Gilford served as General Contractor for the following two projects.
Probate Division Interior Improvements, 515 5th Street, NW, Washington, DC: Design/Build reconfiguration and renovation of an occupied portion of the 3rd floor encompassing approximately 5,875 sf. The project was conducted in six phases to minimize disruption to tenants and ongoing operations. Personnel were temporarily relocated to a swing space. Each phase was conducted and completed in a prescribed order before commencing construction on the next phase.
Interim Security Office and Wellness Center Renovation, 500 Indiana Avenue, NW, Washington, DC: Demolition of existing spaces adjacent to the 3rd Floor Atrium area at the H. Carl Moultrie Courthouse Building and build out of a new Interim Security Office, Wellness Center, and a portion of an adjacent secure corridor (approximately 2,020 sf).
Both projects were conducted at night to minimize disruption to ongoing Court activities. Gilford erected temporary construction walls between public and construction spaces to restrict access as well as to mitigate dust. We also incorporated construction dust, emissions, odor, and noise/vibration control specifications into each subcontractor contract. Temporary construction filters were installed on the HVAC ductwork to maintain air quality throughout construction. Extreme care was taken to protect existing floors, walls, finishes, etc., and time was dedicated at the end of each shift for housekeeping and restoration of the space for day operations.
