New 112,071 sf building on the main campus of Prince George’s Community College that accommodates a teaching environment and administrative offices for the college’s Health Sciences Division as well as Campus-wide data center. The Joint Venture of Tompkins Builders and Gilford Corporation served as General Contractor for the base building, site and facility infrastructure (mechanical, electrical, plumbing, fire protection, and telecommunications), and interior fitout for this three-story structural steel building with a mechanical penthouse.
The LEED certified facility features 26 laboratories (112,000 sf) to simulate hospital environments for patient care including radiology, nurse, operating room, and emergency medical technician training areas; 10 smart classrooms and smart tiered lecture classroom equipped with enhanced AV, computer, networking, and software technology; and a computer lab. There are also more than 70 faculty, staff, and administrative offices; three conference rooms; and a 2,000 sf auditorium.
In addition, the facility houses a data center Data/ Network Operations Center that supports the entire campus including five (5) offsite Extension Centers that also provides back-up campus-wide communications.Site infrastructure included installation of underground utilities from the public main (electric, gas, storm, sewer, domestic water, and communications infrastructure). Building infrastructure included all MEP and fire protection systems including atrium smoke exhaust, two boilers (90 hp), five chillers, fire alarm and sprinkler system with fire command center and pump room, and electrical circuitry. Back-up electrical generators and an independent HVAC system were provided for the data center.

He has held Civil Engineering Certifications and Registrations in the District of Columbia, Maryland, and Wisconsin. Ms. Gilford additionally develops and furthers client relationships and serves as a liaison to facilitate community and neighborhood interactions with federal and local governments and community organizations including the District of Columbia, affordable housing development groups, Department of State, and other organizations and agencies as required.
Ms. Gilford holds a Masters of Education degree from Howard University, Washington, DC and a Bachelor of Science, Business Education degree from Alabama A&M University, Huntsville, AL. She is certified as a High School Guidance Counselor and a Secondary Education Teacher.
