Gilford provided Design/Assist and General Contracting services for the construction and interior fit-out of a new 12-story, 325,000 sf building to accommodate approximately 1,200 employees of Computer Sciences Corporation (CSC), an information and professional services company with contracts in government and private industry.
Site work included demolition, excavating/removing 200,000 cubic yards of materials, installing new site utilities, parking for 1,300 vehicles, and site lighting. Building highlights included cast-in-place concrete frame; marble base with storefront glass to the second floor, E.I.F.S. with glazing (Floors 3-12); and two roof-top cooling towers. Structural anti-terrorism barriers were constructed at the building entrance and a wrought iron fence surrounds the property.
The 270,000 sf interior fitout (10 floors) encompassed Class A office space, auditorium, data center, six passenger elevators, small kitchen facility, and loading area. Access to all floors and interior spaces is via door card readers and security is monitored with high-tech cameras and control room monitoring. The data center is equipped with a UPS system and redundant communications are maintained via two independent service providers.
Gilford provided services from project inception to completion. We also provided strategic design and project management consulting in support of the facility’s structured cabling infrastructure.
The $32 million project was completed 3-1/2 months ahead of schedule, saving the owner over $500,000 in construction costs.
