Kesi Gilford Reynaud

The Kesi Gilford Reynaud Memorial Foundation

The Kesi Gilford Reynaud Memorial Foundation was established by her parents, Henry and Ollie Gilford, as a memorial tribute to the life of their daughter, Kesi, a very talented leader who understood the importance of setting high goals for herself and working hard to achieve them. One of the Memorial Foundation’s missions is to inspire high school seniors to pursue higher education by providing scholarship support. Since 2003, the Foundation has granted at least three scholarships per year to students maintaining a 2.5 grade point average with demonstrated financial need.

Tiffany Tarver – 2003

Tiffany graduated from Alabama A&M University in December 2007 with a degree in Electrical Engineering, concentration in Computer Engineering. In addition to being an outstanding student, she was active in several scholastic and service organizations on campus and also mentors youth groups in her community.

Tiffany interned for the past three summers at El Paso Corporation, one of North America’s largest independent natural gas producers, and became a full-time employee upon graduation. Mentored by mechanical and electrical engineers, she worked to improve the reliability and availability of the company’s vital mechanical and electrical systems. She attended automation and measurement training sessions to learn new software and system upgrade techniques, presented the new methodology to field technicians, and assisted with on-site upgrades.

Tiffany is additionally preparing to enroll at Loyola University New Orleans School of Law, which will enable her to fulfill her ultimate career goal of protecting technological advances through the practice of patent law.

Buff and Scrub Initiative

Gilford Corporation participated in DC Mayor, Adrian Fenty’s “Buff and Scrub Initiative” during Summer 2007. Gilford provided pro bono services at Coolidge Senior High School originally constructed in 1940. Per Principal L. Nelson Burton’s request, Gilford painted hallways and corridors a bright white to better reflect light and thus create a more cheerful environment.

Potomac Gardens Playground

Potomac Gardens Playground

Potomac Gardens Playground: Gilford provided pro bono services to a neighborhood revitalization organization in support of efforts to renovate a playground on Capitol Hill. Work included demolishing and excavating asphalt, paving, installing new play structure/equipment and basketball court, and landscaping.

Rebuilding Together project

Rebuilding Together project: Gilford Corporation joined with the Kesi Gilford Reynaud Memorial Foundation to undertake a partial renovation of Jesse Turner’s house in Northeast Washington, DC through Rebuilding Together, the District of Columbia affiliate of the national Christmas in April organization. This volunteer organization’s mission is to rehabilitate homes for needy families with children, low-income elderly people, and disabled homeowners who, through financial or physical challenges, would be displaced from their homes due to poor living conditions.
